Internal Medicine
Our internal medicine department is led by founding owners, Dr. Amy Rhoades, Dr. Melissa Herrera and Dr. Theresa Ortega, all certified by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine. These Board-certified specialists work closely with our technical team using the latest in diagnostic imaging equipment and years of internal medicine experience.
Based on your family veterinarian’s findings and assessment, they may refer you and your pet to our internal medicine team at Horizon Veterinary Specialists.
Why does my pet need to see an Internist?
- Comprehensive consultation for clinical signs such as decreased appetite, vomiting, weight loss, diarrhea, coughing/difficulty breathing, lethargy, increased drinking and urinating, persistent fever, etc.
- Diagnostic evaluation and treatment of gastrointestinal disease, liver disease, kidney disease, endocrine disorders, possible cancer, autoimmune conditions, respiratory problems, infectious disease, and urinary tract disorders.
- Advanced ultrasound and endoscopy equipment for minimally invasive procedures
If you are ever in doubt about your pet’s health, please consult with your family veterinarian. If your pet’s condition is emergent and your primary veterinarian is not available, bring your pet to our 24-hour specialty and emergency hospital.
